Families needing housing assistance must put their names on a waiting list for affordable housing units.



Burn ban is lifted
Recent rain and cooler weather have prompted the Island County Fire Marshal to announce and end to the summer ban on outdoor burning.

Attorney charged with negligent driving
Well-known Coupeville defense attorney Craig Platt was arrested after he was stopped by an Island County Sheriff’s deputy who observed him driving erratically near the intersection of Libbey and West Beach roads, northwest of Coupeville, at 9:22 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28.

Trillium preservation effort down to the wire
A green and white sign just south of Classic Road near Greenbank marks the only access from Hwy. 525 to the 650 acres of private property known as the Trillium Woods. When the well-padlocked gate is open, it probably means that Whidbey Camano Land Trust is hosting an event in the forest to educate people about the value of preserving the land.
